Raptor’s Radar Revealed

The F-22 Raptor took another step closer to becoming the “backbone of US air dominance” with the June unveiling of the AN/APG-77 radar at Northrop Grumman in Baltimore, Maryland. This advanced radar will help the F-22 guarantee US air supremacy well into the next century, said Lt. Gen. Stephen B. Plummer, principal deputy, Office of the Assistant Secretary of USAF acquisition. “The American people expect their Air Force to continue to dominate the skies, just as we have for decades,” said Plummer at the unveiling. “The F-22’s unique capabilities will make that possible. The radar provides battlespace knowledge to the pilot on an unprecedented basis. The integrated avionics package offers pilots situational awareness, through sensor fusion and data display, that is far superior to any other aircraft flying today or on the drawing board.”
