Thailand Signs For More F-16s

The government of Thailand has signed a Letter of Agreement for sixteen F-16 Block 15 aircraft in the Air Defense Fighter configuration. The F-16s are USAF inventory aircraft powered by the Pratt and Whitney F-100-PW-220E engine. The additional F-16s will supplement the thirty-six F-16 aircraft Thailand currently operates. Thailand will use the aircraft to maintain a continuous air defense capability and to modernize its current fleet. Aircraft deliveries will begin in first quarter 2002. Thailand is ensured continued interoperability with the USAF with these F-16s. The agreement builds on the partnership established by Lockheed Martin and the USAF with the government of Thailand and the Royal Thailand Air Force.
