 Airbus Industrie and Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company have signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate on aeronautical initiatives that include support systems and process development for the JSF. Airbus Industrie is expected to provide its international commercial support network to JSF deployment.
For Lockheed Martin, the agreement signals a change in defense-related business practices to adopt customized commercial practices. The partnership with Airbus Industrie also provides a unique commercial expertise on the Lockheed Martin team. For Airbus Industrie, the new relationship has the potential for bringing a welcome infusion of technology. Airbus, based in Toulouse, France, was formed as a partnership between, European Aeronautics Defense and Space Company, or EADS, and BAE Systems. It produces commercial aircraft for more than 100 airlines. |
