Lockheed Martin shipped the first eight modification kits for USAFs Common Configuration Implementation Program, or CCIP, to Ogden Air Logistics Center, Utah, in June. The kits, part of an extensive F-16 retrofit, contain the Modular Mission Computer and color cockpit features for the Block 50/52 version. The first CCIP aircraft is scheduled to be completed January 2002. Next March, the Block 50/52 kits will add the combined electronic interrogator/transponder to give the F-16 an autonomous beyond-visual-range air-intercept capability. These aircraft will also be capable of alternately carrying the advanced FLIR targeting pod and the High-Speed Anti-Radiation Missile Targeting System pod. The first aircraft with this capability will be delivered in September 2002. |
