F-16 Tests JASSM

The second of two separation tests of the Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile was completed from a Block 50 F-16. Separation JASSM test vehicles used are aerodynamically equivalent to the actual missile with identical weight, center of gravity, moments, outer body lines, and deployable control surfaces (tail and wings); however, they have no engine, fuel, or seeker, and have an inert warhead. The test was conducted by the 46th Test Wing last July at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. Test objectives were to prove the F-16 properly integrated and transferred mission data, separatedsafely, and transitioned to stable and controlled free flight.
