Raptor Visits Fort Worth

Lockheed Martin employees in Fort Worth, Texas, had the opportunity to see a completed Raptor up close and personal for the first time on 10 September. A crowd that stayed after normal work hours gathered for the late afternoon arrival of then-designated F-22. The visit was a special stopover for the Raptor 04 en route from Eglin AFB, Florida, where it had recently finished climatic testing (see article on Page 2), back to the Air Force Flight Test Center at Edwards AFB. Lockheed Martin test pilot Al Norman, who was making the ferry flight, visited with employees and autographed lithographs. Norman, a former Air Force pilot with 3,000 hours in the F-16, has been flying the Raptor for two years at Edwards. F/A-22 mid fuselages are built in Fort Worth.
