The twenty-month static structural testing of the T-50 Golden Eagle advanced supersonic trainer was successfully completed on schedule in August. Korea Aerospace Industries and Korea Aerospace Research Institute performed the tests at Daejeon, South Korea. Structural engineers from Lockheed Martin, the programs principal subcontractor, monitored the tests in real time via secure Internet data connections. The test setup involved unique load applications for each condition through the use of hydraulic actuators, synchronously controlled by an automated load-control system. These trials complete testing of the total airframe, which will lead to strength certification of the aircraft. |
