T-50 Lead-In Fighter Trainer Flown

T-50 Lead-In Fighter Trainer FlownThe Lead-In Fighter Trainer version of the T-50 Golden Eagle supersonic jet trainer was flown for the first time on 29 August from Sachon, South Korea, by Maj. Lee, Choong Hwan, Republic of Korea Air Force test pilot. The second T-50 LIFT, the final full-scale development flight test aircraft, was first flown on 4 September. The main differences in this version are the addition of an APG-67(V)4 radar and an internal 20mm gun. The ROKAF will use the T-50 LIFT, also called the A-50 by ROKAF, to train new pilots in basic fighter tactics and weapons employment. Korea Aerospace Industries is the T-50’s prime contractor and Lockheed Martin is the principal subcontractor.
