When Hurricane Isabel struck the United States on 18 September, several hundred military aircraft from Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps bases in North Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland were flown to facilities inland to escape the storms wrath. The aircraft were moved as part of previously agreed-to contingency plans. All the aircraft were flown back to their respective bases in the days immediately after the storm. These P-3s and C-141s were flown to Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, before Isabel made landfall. |
