The ANGs 149th FW, based at San Antonio, Texas, added close air support to its annual combat training with the Hawaii ANG this summer with help from the Armys 25th Infantry Division. A week of training, called Sentry Strike, was held with the Armys forward air controllers. As part of the training, the wings F-16 pilots coordinated with soldiers on the ground to drop simulated bombs on an Army unit serving as the opposition. The training was also valuable to the forward air controllers of the 25th Infantry Division because they have no F-16s to train with in Hawaii. |
