Malaysian Air Force Pilots Fly Navy

Malaysian Air Force Pilots Fly Navy A P-3C Orion crew from VP-4 deployed to Misawa AB, Japan, gave three Royal Malaysian Air Force pilots a close look at US Navy maritime surveillance and antisubmarine warfare procedures during a familiarization flight on 27 July. The flight, a training event during
the Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training, or CARAT, exercise, included time in the Orion’s copilot seat for each of the RMAF pilots and an overview of the P-3 crew’s techniques and procedures. CARAT, a regularly scheduled series of bilateral military training exercises with Association of Southeast Asian Nations countries, is designed to enhance interoperability of the US sea services and those of allies throughout the region.
