The C-130 Hercules and KC-135 Stratotanker made their debut as aeromedical evacuation aircraft for routine flights within the continental United States on 7 August when two crews transported twenty-one patients to California, Texas, and Kentucky. The two aircraft are expected to fill in for the C-9 Nightingale, which was retired from service in the early fall, to support the Integrated CONUS Medical Operations Plan. The C-130 and its crew, based out of the 146th Airlift Wing, Channel Islands ANGS, California, is one of two C-130s to rotate assignments to augment the 375th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron at Scott AFB, Illinois. |
