Safe Hooligans

The 119th Fighter Wing, the North Dakota Air National Guard F-16 unit based at Fargo, received its fourth Maj. Gen. John J. Pesch Flight Safety Trophy from the National Guard Association of the United States during the Guard Association's annual conference in September. Since 1990, the Happy Hooligans have flown more than 65,000 hours in the F-16A without an accident. That achievement, coupled with another 51,609 hours of accident-free flying in F-4 fighters and an additional 20,860 flight hours in the F-101, marks the longest continuous period of safe fighter operations for any Air National Guard fighter unit. It also highlights one of the best safety records in US Air Force history.
