A six-ship formation of F-22 Raptors raced the sun across the continental United States on 8 August to arrive at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, Alaska, to formally begin operational service in the Pacific. To get to their new home, pilots from Elmendorf’s 90th Fighter Squadron flew from Langley AFB, Virginia, where they had been training. The 90th Fighter Squadron dates back to World War I.
