Full-Life Testing Complete

Pratt & Whitney announced on 20 September 2010 that the F119 engine powering the F-22 Raptor has successfully completed 8,650 total accumulated cycles, or TACs, representing the powerplant’s full-life requirements. Production engine P730210 completed Accelerated Mission Testing, which simulates fifteen years of operational service, after four years of test and evaluation. The engine ran for nearly 1,700 hours, accumulating 8,650 cycles. Following completion of the testing, the test engine was disassembled and inspected revealing all the parts in excellent condition. A significant portion of the hardware from P730210 will be re-installed for continued testing beyond the original design specification requirements. The F119 has accumulated more than 300,000 hours and approximately 350 engines have been delivered to date.
