The first rewinged P-3 Orion maritime patrol aircraft for the Royal Norwegian Air Force was delivered in ceremonies at the IMP Group Ltd., Aerospace Division facilities in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, on 14 July 2011. The replacement wings are part of the P-3 Mid-Life Upgrade, or MLU, program, which includes replacement of the aircraft’s center wing lower surface and horizontal stabilizer. All of the components are made from new alloys that provide a five-fold increase in corrosion resistance. IMP will be refitting Norway’s fleet of two P-3N and four P-3C aircraft with the MLU kits over the next several years. The replacement wings are assembled at the Lockheed Martin facility in Marietta, Georgia, and are shipped to IMP for installation.
