US Customs and Border Protection P-3 crews operating out of Jacksonville, Florida, and Corpus Christi, Texas, assisted in the interdiction of three vessels carrying 27,000 pounds of cocaine during in one week. The total value of the contraband is more than $1.3 billion. On 29 March 2012, two P-3s operating in the Caribbean assisted the Joint Interagency Task Force-South in locating and tracking a self-propelled semi-submersible vessel off Nicaragua. The crew scuttled the vessel, but authorities recovered 13,889 pounds of cocaine worth more than $1 billion. On 30 March and 4 April, P-3 crews spotted go-fast boats carrying suspicious bales off the coast of Panama. Local law enforcement officials were vectored in and carried out the takedown of the smugglers.
