Customs Rollout

The first US Customs and Border Protection P-3 Orion to complete the new Mid-Life Upgrade, or MLU, program rolled out of the paint hangar at Lockheed Martin facility in Greenville, South Carolina, sans radar rotodome on 7 July 2010. This re-winged aircraft, which also has a new horizontal stabilizer, stabilizer leading edges, and fillet fairings, and will be flown for the first time soon. It will be redelivered in a formal ceremony on 13 July. US Customs and Border Protection has ordered six replacement wing shipsets with options for eight more. Customs operates P-3s from sites in Corpus Christi, Texas, and Jacksonville, Florida.
