Relief Delivery Milestone

The US military’s humanitarian relief efforts in flood-ravaged Pakistan reached a significant milestone on 11 September 2010 as deliveries of relief supplies passed the five million pound mark. As of 13 September, US military helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft crews have transported more than 5.4 million pounds of relief supplies and rescued more than 13,000 people, delivering aid, and providing transport to people who need emergency assistance. Thirty Marine Corps and Army helicopters are being flown in-country to support relief operations. Marine KC-130J and Air Force C-130 and C-17aircrews also have been providing airlift support. Hercules crews have delivered more than two million pounds of relief supplies to multiple locations throughout Pakistan.
