US Army SSgt. Travis Surber, a paratrooper with the 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Brigade Combat Team, or BCT, parachutes out of a C-130J Super Hercules transport over Ukraine on 26 July 2011. This marked the first time Soldiers from 173rd BCT jumped into Ukraine. The jump was a part of Rapid Trident 2011, an annual joint combined exercise involving the US and Partnership for Peace member nations. Missions alternate in odd and even years. In odd-numbered years, Rapid Trident is a field exercise, while in even-numbered years the exercise incorporates a command post exercise. The C-130J is assigned to the 37th Airlift Squadron at Ramstein AB, Germany.
