After more than 20,500 flight hours, numerous deployments, and assignments, the 374th Rescue Group’s first HC-130P Combat King personnel recovery aircraft was retired in ceremonies at Moody AFB, Georgia, on 25 September 2012 prior to its final flight to the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group at Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona. This aircraft was delivered to the Air Force in June 1966 and during its forty-six year career, the aircraft was flown on missions with the US Coast Guard and was instrumental in rescue operations that saved four people from a sunken Honduran freighter in 1992. This aircraft has been stationed at Moody for more than fifteen years. The 374th will convert to the new HC-130J Combat King II.
