More than 200 F-22 pilots and maintainers from the active duty 27th Fighter Squadron and 27th Aircraft Maintenance Unit, along with Air National Guardsmen from the 192nd Fighter Wing, returned to their home base at Langley AFB, Virginia, on 13 October 2012 after a three month deployment to Kadena AB, Japan. The Langley F-22 deployment to Kadena was in support of US Pacific Command’s security obligations in the western Pacific. The combined unit fell under the direction of the 18th Wing at Kadena, while deployed. F-22s are routinely deployed from the continental US to locations throughout the Pacific.
