Eight aircraft and 124 personnel from the 43rd Fighter Squadron and 43rd Aircraft Maintenance Unit, the F-22 pilot and maintainer training units at Tyndall AFB, Florida, were deployed to NAS JRB New Orleans, Louisiana, in late August 2013 to maximize flying and air combat training for six F-22 student pilots. The training deployment accomplished forty training syllabus items in eight days. Normally, during the students' final air combat tactics phase of training, the required adversary support is brought to Tyndall. However, with budget constraints, finding flying adversaries able to deploy to Tyndall has become more and more difficult. The F-22 schoolhouse team will now travel as needed to those training support assets.
