100th F-35 Celebrated

More than 2,000 employees and guests celebrated production of the 100th F-35 Lightning II in ceremonies at the Lockheed Martin facility in Fort Worth, Texas, on 13 December 2013. The 100th aircraft, an F-35A (US Air Force serial number 11-5030), is the first of 144 F-35s scheduled for delivery to Luke AFB, Arizona. Gen. Robin Rand, Commander, Air Education and Training Command at Randolph AFB, Texas, and Brig. Gen. Michael Rothstein, Commander, 56th Fighter Wing at Luke, attended the ceremony. Forty-four F-35A conventional takeoff and landing variants, forty-two F-35B short takeoff/vertical landing variants, and fourteen F-35C carrier variants have been delivered. The US military has received ninety-five F-35s. The United Kingdom and the Netherlands have received the other five aircraft.
