Final Mission

A Block 25 F-16D is taxied from the parking area at the Air Force Flight Test Center at Edwards AFB, California, for its final mission on 5 October 2010. The Flight Test Center has operated Block 25 aircraft longer than any other Air Force base. The nearly thirty-year-old Block 25 aircraft, which are flown as safety chase, photography, or test platforms at Edwards, have been replaced with Block 30, 40, and 50 F-16s. The aircraft are usually retired at the Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group at Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona, or sold or transferred to other F-16 operators.
