F-16s Escort Orange Home

Posted 12 July 2010

Two Royal Netherlands Air Force F-16 pilots, including Capt. Tobias Schtutte, the Dutch F-16 Solo Display Team pilot, escorted the KLM airliner bringing that country’s World Cup runner-up soccer team home from South Africa on 12 July 2010. The two F-16s pilots met the 777 at the border and escorted the plane to touchdown at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam (shown here). In June, Schutte flew above the Arena in Amsterdam during the last friendly match against Hungary before the Dutch national soccer team left for South Africa. After the national anthem, he performed a flyby, wishing the team well at the World Cup on behalf of the Netherlands Ministry of Defence.
