The US Air Force reactivated the 95th Fighter Squadron in ceremonies at Tyndall AFB, Florida, on 11 October 2013. The 95th FS, now an F-22 squadron, is preparing for the transfer of twenty-four Raptors from Holloman AFB, New Mexico. From September 1974 to December 2010, the 95th FS, whose mascot is Mr. Bones, a skeleton with a top hat and cane, trained thousands of fighter/interceptor pilots and weapons controllers using the T-33 Shooting Star and F-15 Eagle. The additional aircraft will bring the total number of Raptors at Tyndall to more than fifty, the largest contingent of F-22s at one location. The 43rd FS at Tyndall is the F-22 training squadron.
