The first F-35A for the Italian Air Force (Aeronautica Militare or AM) was flown for the first time at Cameri AB on 7 September 2015. This aircraft (AM serial number MM7332, tail 32-01) was the first aircraft to be assembled at the Cameri Final Assembly and Check Out, or FACO, facility. Lockheed Martin F-35 test pilot Bill Gigliotti flew the aircraft. The one hour and twenty-two minute flight was the first for an F-35 assembled outside the United States and also marked the first F-35 flight in Europe. 32-01 is expected to be delivered to the AM by the end of the year. The Cameri FACO is owned by the Italian government and operated by Finmeccanica-Alenia Aermacchi in association with Lockheed Martin.
