Lt. Col. Fred Schenk is at the controls of F-35B BF-1 and Lt. Col. Matt Taylor is flying BF-3 for the first formation flight of two F-35Bs on 10 November 2010. The formation was flown from NAS Patuxent River, Maryland, and marked the seventy-seventh flight of BF-1 and the sixty-fourth flight of BF-3. The 1.4 hour test flight was conducted at both 20,000 feet and 30,000 feet. The flight was the first to evaluate close-proximity handling qualities of the F-35B Lightning II.
