The Thunderbirds, the US Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, performed the team’s traditional flyby to conclude graduation ceremonies at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on 25 May 2011. The team flew its F-16s over Falcon Stadium as the Class of 2011 was formally dismissed. Secretary of the Air Force Michael Donley was the commencement speaker. The 1,021 graduates form the Academy’s fifty-third graduating class. Special guests in attendance included Janine Sijan Rozina, the sister of Medal of Honor recipient Capt. Lance Sijan; Jane LeMay Lodge, daughter of fifth Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Curtis LeMay; and Medal of Honor recipient Col. Bud Day, whose grandson, Joshua, is a member of the Class of 2011.
