F135 No. 50

Pratt & Whitney announced on 2 May 2012 that the company had delivered the fiftieth production F135 engine for the F-35 Lightning II. The milestone engine is scheduled to be installed in an F-35C for the United States Navy. That aircraft will be delivered to the F-35 Integrated Training Center at Eglin AFB, Florida, for Navy pilot training. Pratt & Whitney has delivered thirty engines for F-35A conventional takeoff and landing and F-35C carrier variant aircraft and twenty engines for F-35B short takeoff/vertical landing variant production. Included in the fifty deliveries was the last deliverable hardware required for the third lot of Low Rate Initial Production, or LRIP, engines.
