Pilots, maintainers, support personnel and eighteen F-16s from the 309th Fighter Squadron at Luke AFB, Arizona, deployed to Holloman AFB, New Mexico from 7-14 December 2012., to test Holloman's ability to meet the needs of formal fighter training units. One or two F-16 training squadrons are expected to move to Holloman at an undetermined point in the near future. The Luke pilots flew sorties twenty-four hours a day to test the airspace and training ranges around Holloman, as well as the base’s infrastructure and ability to support F-16 operations. The Luke pilots also employed precision and non-precision inert and live munitions at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico.
