Moving MAFFS

Ground personnel with the 146th Airlift Wing’s aerial port squadron prepare to load a Modular Airborne Firefighting System, or MAFFS, unit onto a C-130J Super Hercules on 18 July 2013. The 146th AW, the California Air National Guard wing at Channel Islands ANGS, was activated to provide additional air support to Cal Fire to help contain a wildfire near Idllywild, California. In addition to the 146th AW, the 145th AW, the North Carolina ANG unit at Charlotte, the 153rd AW, the Wyoming Guard unit in Cheyenne, and the 302nd AW, the Air Force Reserve Command unit at Peterson AFB, Colorado, are tasked with the MAFFS mission.
