A historic C-130 Hercules made its final journey on 10 August, when it was moved from Dobbins ARB, Georgia, to the Marietta Museum of History’s Aviation Wing. This aircraft, US Air Force serial number 54-1623, was the tenth C-130A to come off the production line. It was delivered in 1957. The aircraft, nicknamed Ghost Rider, was retired in 1995, was modified as an AC-130A gunship that supported missions during the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm. The Marietta Museum of History’s Aviation Wing is adjacent to the Lockheed Martin facility in Marietta. Museum volunteers helped move the venerable ship to its new home where it will be reassembled.
