The US Navy announced on 7 May 2014 that Sikorsky Aircraft was selected to build the next fleet of Presidential helicopters. Sikorsky will modify, test, and deliver six FAA-certified S-92 helicopters (two for flight test and four for operational test and evaluation) and two simulators to the US Marine Corps starting in 2018. The operational test helicopters will eventually transition to operational status. After assembly and Presidential-specific modifications, Lockheed Martin will install the integrated communications and mission systems at its Owego, New York, facility. Sikorsky will then install the presidential interior and deliver the aircraft. The new helicopter does not yet have an official designation or popular name. The Presidential fleet is expected to grow to twenty-one aircraft by 2023.
