The US government awarded Lockheed Martin a series of contracts in May and June 2014 totaling $842 million to modify the next eleven legacy US Air Force C-5 Galaxy strategic transports to the C-5M Super Galaxy standard. These contracts fully fund Lot 6 of the C-5M program of record. The contract awards authorize procurement of material, spares, and installation. The modification work will be performed at the Lockheed Martin facility in Marietta, Georgia. A total of fifty-two C-5s are scheduled to undergo modernization.
