At the request of the US State Department, the US military assisted in the movement of personnel at the US Embassy in Tripoli, Libya, to Tunisia, on 26 July 2014. All embassy personnel were relocated, including the Marine security guards at the embassy. The US personnel were driven to Tunisia. During the move, F-16s, ISR assets, and an Airborne Response Force with MV-22s provided security. The five-hour mission was conducted without incident. Here, a KC-130J with Special-Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force-Crisis Response Force, or SP-MAGTF, at NAS Sigonella, Sicily, is prepared for takeoff to provide support to the operation. SP-MAGTF Crisis Response is a self-deploying, self-sustaining task force with the capacity to provide a rapid response capability to US Africa Command.
