First Combat Shadow II Delivered

The first MC-130J Combat Shadow II special operations tanker/transport for the US Air Force was delivered to Cannon AFB, New Mexico, in ceremonies on 29 September 2011. The aircraft (Air Force serial number 09-6207) was flown from the Lockheed Martin facility in Marietta, Georgia, to the base in Clovis by Lt. Gen. Eric E. Fiel, the commander of Air Force Special Operations Command. The MC-130J is based on the KC-130J tanker and features a boom refueling receptacle, an electro-optical/infrared sensor, and a combat systems operator station on the flight deck. This aircraft, assigned to the 522nd Special Operations Squadron, is the first of twenty MC-130Js currently on order.
