The first production C-5M Super Galaxy sports a newly painted tail flash at the Lockheed Martin facility in Marietta, Georgia, on 13 September 2010. All C-5Ms as they come off the modification line will be painted with the tail flash along with nose art to signify the aircraft is a Super Galaxy. This first production C-5M is scheduled to be delivered to Dover AFB, Delaware, by the end of September. Current plans call for modifying a total of fifty-two C-5s to the C-5M standard. That number includes forty-nine former C-5Bs, two former C-5Cs, and the one former C-5A that was modified during the Super Galaxy test program.
