Off To Africa

Approximately sixty Airmen from the 920th Rescue Wing, the Air Force Reserve Command unit at Patrick AFB, Florida, deployed to the east coast of Africa as part of Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, or CJTF-HOA, starting on 25 January 2012. The Reservists and two HC-130P King personnel recovery aircraft will be deployed for four months. The 920th RW Airmen will join other US service members, civilian employees, and representatives of coalition and partner countries to conduct operations to enhance partner nation capability, promote regional security and stability, dissuade conflict, and protect US and coalition interests. The CJTF-HOA area of responsibility includes Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia, Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti and Seychelles while the area of interest extends to other surrounding countries.
