US Coast Guard PO2 Shane Ramos, an aviation maintenance technician loadmaster, communicates with the flight deck crew of an HC-130H Hercules prior to launching on 28 June 2012 in Barrow, Alaska. Coast Guardsmen from CGAS Kodiak flew daily missions to Barrow in preparation for a Coast Guard deployment to Arctic Shield, a temporary air station set up near the Arctic Ocean during the summer to increase aircraft time on station on search and rescue flights in the region.
