Hurricane Hunters Track Sandy

A crew from the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron at Keesler AFB, Mississippi, flies their WC-130J Weather Bird into Hurricane Sandy on the morning of 29 October 2012 somewhere over the east coast of the United States. The 53rd WRS, known as the Hurricane Hunters, conducted weather reconnaissance missions for several days in preparation for Hurricane Sandy, tracking the storm from the Caribbean. Hurricane Sandy made landfall just south of Atlantic City, New Jersey, in the evening of 29 October.
