Capt. Jonathan Ferricher, a pilot with the 39th Airlift Squadron at Dyess AFB, Texas, preflights a C-130J Super Hercules for a night mission on 4 June 2013. This mission, which delivered humanitarian relief supplies to Pope Army Airfield, North Carolina, was carried out under the Denton Amendment, which allows US military aircraft to transport, on a space-available basis, humanitarian supplies from nongovernment organizations to people around the world who are in need of assistance. From Pope, the supplies were taken to JB Charleston, South Carolina, and from there to Afghanistan.
