The 158th Airlift Squadron, the Georgia Air National Guard unit at Savannah ANGB, received the first of eight upgraded C-130H Hercules transports on 15 October 2015. The unit will be replacing its current C-130H2s with C-130H2.5 and C-130H3 which are approximately fifteen years newer. The newer aircraft, which feature enhanced navigational capability, electronic flight instrumentation, an improved autopilot system and a newer Master Caution and Warning system, are expected to replace the squadron’s current fleet throughout 2016. The first aircraft (US Air Force serial number 94-7321) was formerly assigned to the 731st AS, the Air Force Reserve Command unit at Peterson AFB, Colorado.
