Off To A Flying Start

An active duty U.S. Air Force aircrew led by Brig. Gen. Randall Reed, the Deputy Director of Strategic Plans, Requirements and Programs, Headquarters Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois ferried the thirty-third C-5M Super Galaxy from the Lockheed Martin facility in Marietta on 12 January 2016. The aircraft was delivered almost three weeks ahead of the contract commitment delivery date. The aircraft was flown to Travis AFB, California. It is the fifteenth Super Galaxy assigned to the base near Fairfield. This aircraft (US Air Force serial number 87-0030) was originally delivered to the Air Force in September 1988 and had recorded approximately 22,700 flight hours prior to the ferry flight.
