RAAF Red Flag Firsts

A total of 150 Royal Australian Air Force personnel, including two C-130J Super Hercules crews and a crew flying an AP-3C Orion patrol aircraft, are participating in Red Flag, the large-scale air combat exercise at Nellis AFB, Nevada. This marks the first time Australian C-130 and AP-3 crews have participated in a Red Flag exercise. The C-130J crews are deployed from 37 Squadron at RAAF Richmond, near Sydney, and the AP-3C crew is deployed from 10 Squadron at RAAF Edinburgh, near Adelaide, South Australia. Red Flag 15-1 runs from 26 January through 13 February 2015. Red Flag is one of a series of advanced training programs administered by the US Air Force Warfare Center at Nellis designed to increase combat readiness and effectiveness.
