The Critical Design Review for the active electronically scanned array radar on the F-16V, the newest variant of the Fighting Falcon, was completed at Fort Worth, Texas, on 20 August 2014. Completion of the radar CDR verified the Northrop Grumman-built AN/APG-83 Scalable Agile Beam Radar, or SABR, design meets all US Air Force and Lockheed Martin requirements. Lockheed Martin will continue F-16V development with follow-on activities such as integration and ground and flight test. The F-16V upgrade includes SABR as well as enhancements to the aircraft’s mission computer, vehicle systems, aircraft structure, cockpit and electronic warfare system. Taiwan, with a fleet of 144 Block 20 F-16A/B fighters, is the F-16V launch customer.
