The C-130J Super Hercules was the featured aircraft for the seventeenth annual US Air Force Marathon held 21 September 2013 at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. The aircraft’s likeness appeared on the medals given to all the runners. Other Lockheed Martin aircraft honored previously include the F-22 Raptor (1998 and 2008), F-16 (2000), F-117 (2004), U-2 (2005), and C-5 (2007). The 88th Air Base Wing at Wright-Patterson coordinates the event, which this year included a full marathon, half marathon, 10k run, and a wheelchair division. The planned 5k run was not held because of inclement weather. More than 15,000 runners participated at the base in Dayton, while satellite races were held at eight locations around the world.
