C-130J aircrews and maintainers from the 317th Airlift Wing at Dyess AFB, Texas, deployed to Ramstein AB, Germany, on 10 August 2013 to provide short-term additional support for US Africa Command. More than twenty Airmen from the 39th Airlift Squadron at Dyess will integrate with the 37th Airlift Squadron at Ramstein to stand in alert postures and prepare for any taskings AFRICOM might have. This is the first time in two years that the 317th AG has supported AFRICOM. Most recently, in early 2011, the group provided one of their first C-130Js in support of operations in North Africa.
