The 61st Airlift Squadron at Little Rock AFB, Arkansas, received its first C-130J Super Hercules on 24 October 2013. A crew from the squadron ferried the aircraft (Air Force serial number 11-5734) from the Lockheed Martin facility in Marietta, Georgia, to the base outside the Arkansas capitol. The 61st AS has operated C-130s since 1956 and was the last active duty US Air Force unit to fly the C-130E. The 61st AS, known as the Green Hornets, is currently scheduled to receive nine extended fuselage length C-130Js. The other Air Mobility Command unit flying C-130Js at Little Rock is the 41st AS.
